Amulet of Kings

The Amulet of Kings is an amulet the Emperor wears. It is used to keep the dragonfires lit, thus preventing the creatures of Oblivion from invading. It is the early focus of the Main Quest.

[edit] Significance to the main storyline
The amulet is one of the most important items in the main quest. The player will spend half of the story seeking it out and rescuing it from the evil clasps of Mehrunes Dagon and Mankar Camoran. Even though it is said that only those who are from Septim bloodline can wear the Amulet of Kings, Mankar Camoran is seen wearing the amulet when fighting him in his Paradise, and also when preaching the word of Dagon in the Mythic Dawn shrine, hinting that Mankar Camoran may be a distant bastard son of an emperor. The amulet is lost forever when Martin uses the power of the amulet to transform into the form of Akatosh and defeat Mehrunes Dagon.
Note: If the player tries to equip it, the amulet will slip off. However, using the cheat Coc testinghall you can get a duplicate, after getting the amulet equip the top one, and you can wear it.
