Areldur is an Altmer and one of the priests in the Chapel of Stendarr in Chorrol. He feels sorry for Kellen, the last surviving member of Sir Juncan's lineage. Kellen is stricken with the curse, and he has tried to move the Gauntlets himself. Unfortunately, he failed, and is staying at the Chapel.

When you take the curse upon yourself and save Kellen, Areldur loses his vision as a priest, being unable to help when he is supposed to. He withdraws, and then you will see him again in the Priory of the Nine, where he requests to be knighted to redeem himself. Doing so, he becomes Sir Areldur.
