Sword
From the OblivioWiki – your guide to everything Oblivion
A sword is a straight or slightly curved weapon having a long edge or edges used for cutting, slicing, and piercing. Swords can be one-handed or two-handed. In Tamriel, expertise in the use of all kinds of swords fall under the Blade skill. The following are the types of swords:

[edit] One-handed swords
[edit] Shortsword
Shortswords are one-handed swords. They are smaller and less damaging than a longsword of the same material, but are lighter, cheaper, and have quicker attack speed. They generally have a (20%) faster attack speed and (20%) shorter reach. The shorter reach makes it easier to avoid accidentally hitting friendly NPCs or creatures.
[edit] Longsword
The longsword is a one-handed sword. It is generally the heaviest, most damaging variant of one-handed blades (shortswords and daggers). Cutlasses fall under this section.
Notes:
- "Base Value" refers to the actual value without mercantile or disposition affecting it.
- "Max. Damage" refers to the maximum amount of damage an item can do, assuming maximum stats and skill.
- "Health" refers to a weapon's durability, "speed" refers to a weapon's attack speed, and "reach" refers to how close an opponent must be in order to be struck with a weapon.
[edit] Two-handed swords
[edit] Claymore
A claymore is a two-handed sword that is generally stronger and has more reach than its smaller, one-handed counterparts, although much heavier and slower.
