Nerevarine

The Nerevarine, which is referred to in some conversations between NPCs in Oblivion, is the reincarnation of Indoril Nerevar, once loyal ally of Dagoth Ur. However, when the two were trusted with destroying the Heart of Lorkhan, Dagoth was seduced by the power of the heart and betrayed Nerevar, refusing to destroy the heart and ultimately using its power to destroy Nerevar and become immortal.

In Morrowind, the unwitting player discovers that he is in fact the prophesied reincarnation of Nerevar and must return to Red Mountain and destroy both Dagoth Ur and the Heart of Lorkhan, freeing Vvardenfell from his tightening grasp.
