Pelinal Whitestrake was a companion of Alessia and he is credited for destroying Umaril the Unfeathered. As the Divine Crusader in service to the Nine Divines he employed the Relics of the Crusader to mete out holy justice. The Knights of the Nine are dedicated to recovering and protecting these relics.

In the first era he fought thousands of clearly organized, sentient Khajiit warriors, believing them to be Aldmeri.
Pelinal Whitestrake was sent to Alessia to become the general of her army. Evidence suggests that Pelinal was also a demi-god, possibly the son of Lorkhan.
