[edit] Background
Apparently someone desecrated the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil and murdered those inside. The Prophet is preaching on the streets across from the chapel to all passing by.
[edit] Walkthrough
Speak to the prophet, and he will tell you about the return of the Ayleid sorcerer-king, Umaril the Unfeathered. Umaril has risen again and is desecrating the chapels of the Nine Divines. He tells you that only a worthy knight can recover the Artifacts of the legendary knight, Pelinal Whitestrake, a vanguard of Saint Alessia herself, and slay Umaril once and for all.
The Prophet then asks you if you are a worthy knight, and you may respond Yes if you are the head of the Fighters Guild, Arena Grand Champion, the Hero of Kvatch, the arch-mage of the Mages Guild, or the Champion of Cyrodiil, or No if you are the Listener for the Dark Brotherhood, the Gray Fox of the Thieves Guild, or if you haven't done any of these things yet.
Although he will praise you for responding with any of the Yes answers, he'll only send you on the quest if you choose one of the No answers. All the same, the Prophet gives you a map and sets you out on a pilgrimage to visit a wayshrine of each Divine. The map is not an accurate representation for the locations of the shrines, but is more of a guide to help you find them.
Along the way you meet Sir Roderic and his Squire Lathon, who are also questing for the artifacts of Pelinal Whitestrake. They greet you kindly and express their hopes that they will see you later as time progresses. Once your pilgrimage is complete, you are transported far above Cyrodiil and are given a quest by the ghost of Pelinal Whitestrake himself; and told the location of his Helm.

After hearing rumors or talking to a Priest :
I've heard rumors of an attack on the Chapel of Dibella in Anvil. No one seems to know what happened, but all the priests and priestesses were killed and the altars desecrated. It might be worth going to Anvil to see for myself.
Upon speaking with the Prophet:
- I've spoken to the Prophet outside Anvil Chapel. He claims that an ancient Ayleid sorcerer-king has returned from beyond the grave to destroy the church, and that only a true knight wearing the legendary Crusader's Relics can possibly defeat him. I should speak to him further to find out how to find these lost Relics.
After talking more to the Prophet:
- I've spoken to a mysterious Prophet, who told me that in order to seek the Relics of the Crusader, I must first do a pilgrimage to the Wayshrines of the Divines. He gave me a map of the Pilgrim's Way to help me locate the shrines. Once I have visited a wayshrine for each of the Nine Divines, I may receive a vision if I am judged a worthy knight.
