Potion

From the OblivioWiki – your guide to everything Oblivion

Potions are drinkable items that can be made through Alchemy. Mixing certain ingredients together can produce either beneficial or harmful potions that will imbue a temporary boost or loss to a chracter's stats. Potions come in a variety of "levels." For example, a Weak Potion of Healing would heal less than a standard Potion of Healing.

The amount of effects that can be used from ingredients will be determined by your Alchemy skill. So with increased skill and by mastering Alchemy, you will be able to produce more effects on poisons/potions simultaneously. The total amount of potions that can be used at any one time is four. The number of potions a character can have in effect at one time is not influenced by other effects from spells or enchantments.

Potion effects will stack (add up on top of one another), but only up the amount of potions you have consumed.

The pink potion is a "good" potion; the green is the "bad" poison.

In your inventory, potions become one of two colors: pink or green. Pink potions are "good" and beneficial to you, such as restore health. Green poisons are "bad" and harmful to your enemies, when applied to a weapon or arrow. See Poison.

Alcoholic drinks such as ale, beer, and wine are potions as well, but provide mostly negative effects.
