After collecting all the other Crusader relics: the Boots, the Gauntlets, the Helmet, the Cuirass, the Shield, and the Mace, you will receive a journal entry to return to the Priory of the Nine and talk to them about the remaining relics, the Greaves and the Sword of the Crusader. Once you enter the Priory, the Squire of Sir Roderic that you saw earlier in your quest is there. He tells a story of his master and how just like you, he visited all of the Wayshrines and received a vision, apparently a disturbing vision. After the vision his master kept mumbling about some old family and asked around for them. Finally they went to Underpall Cave searching for the Greaves and the Sword of the Crusader. Once there, an unholy wraith attacked and killed Sir Roderic. Before he died, he told the squire to run, and that the sword was cursed and must be cleansed at the chapel in Cheydinhal. He also grabbed the Greaves before he fled, and gives them to you. He hopes it helps.
He then asks you if he could join your Knights, and if you say yes, he will get into the appropriate gear and join you on your quest to kill the wraith that murdered Sir Roderic and claim the Sword of the Crusader for your own.
Once you have all the armor of the Crusader, you get a holy aura buff that if you look at your magic effect screen is combined with Natures Grace from your boots to give you an enchantment called Umaril's Bane, which later will allow you to face Umaril without dying.
