The major continent of Nirn, Tamriel's year consists of 364 days, split into twelve months. Six months have 31 days, five have 30 days and one has 28 days. Very similar to the Gregorian Calendar, real-world equivalents to Tamriel's system of time are listed in paranthesis.
The days are organized into a week seven days long. The days of the week are:

There are three eras of recorded history in Tamriel and an undefined amount of time predating the first era.

- Ayleids have the first established province

- Empress Alessia creates the new religion of the Eight Divines, based on the Nordic and Aldmeri religions. Somewhere between 1E243-1E266.
- Alessia undergoes apotheosis, become the gem known as the Amulet of Kings. 1E266.

- Mages Guild founded by Vanus Galerion the Mystic and Rilis XII. 2E230.
- Tiber Septim, first in the Septim bloodline is born. 2E827.
- Tiber Septim unites all of Tamriel into the empire known today. 2E 896.

- Appearance of the Gray Fox and creation of the Thieves Guild. Around 3E 100
- Uriel Septim V attempts to take over Akavir
- According to a entry date in Log of the Emma May the ship sank in 3E 421.
- Count of Anvil mysteriously disappears. Becomes the Gray Fox. 3E 423
- This is the era TES IV: Oblivion takes place in. The game begins on Last Seed 27, 3E 433.
- Elder Scroll stolen from the Imperial Palace. No suspects identified. 3E 433
- Count of Anvil mysteriously reappears. 3E 433
