A troll

A Troll is a creature that resembles an ape with three eyes. They are often found in forest areas outdoors, but are occasionally found in certain caves and ruins.

There appear to be several types of Trolls in Tamriel, but most people appear to be familiar only with the relatively common Green Trolls, and not much is known about Ice Trolls or Brown Trolls.

Trolls are generally not too smart, but they're very tough and regenerate health, thus being very difficult to kill. Luckily for adventurers, they're quite vulnerable to fire.

The Painted Troll

The Painted Trolls are trolls painted by the thief in Rythe Lythandas's painting, in the quest A Brush with Death. When you enter the painting, Rythe will give you six doses of Turpentine, which deals varying damage to Painted Trolls based on your level. It is used as if it were a poison. They sometimes drop Painted Troll Fat.

Note: Painted Troll Fat is a rare Alchemy ingredient only found during the A Brush with Death quest.
