The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion currently comes in three flavors: PC, Xbox 360, and, later, PlayStation 3 (released on March 20, 2007). In terms of actual gameplay content, they are the same except that the PlayStation 3 version automatically contains the Knights of the Nine official plug-in, which PC and Xbox 360 users have to buy separately. There are several other differences:

- Use of console commands

- No need for a high-end PC system to have maximum graphics
- Portability (so to speak, in regards to the console itself)
